The Burma Refugee Mission Coordinating Team, while based at Lake Avenue Baptist Church, is an ecumenical and community effort serving the community of refugees from Burma living in Rochester, NY.

The coordinating team consists of leadership from each ethnic community from Burma in Rochester (regardless of faith affiliation), members of LABC and other area churches, community and civic organizations, area colleges, and other interested volunteers. The focus of the coordinating team is on post-6-month case management services, education, and community development.

The coordinating team has funded a staff position of outreach coordinator to the community of refugees from Burma, Hkadin Lee, who coordinates several volunteers in post-6-month case management services. We work very closely with Catholic Family Center and other related organizations. We also do frequent presentations in the community, in which representatives from the community of refugees from Burma and other volunteers provide background on the situation in Burma, the refugee process, and personal stories.

The coordinating team meets the first Sunday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend. Contact: 585-458-5765
